Shoulder of Inzaghi

F*CK F*CK F*CK F*CK F*CK!!!

*sigh*

*cough*

*compose*

It's a shame that after all that effort, after how much control we enjoyed over the match, we're resigned to just walking on. Normally, I wouldn't be so pessimistic, but everything feels hollow after Inzaghi's shoulder. Know what, though? You make your own luck. Inzaghi's shoulder never happens if Xabi doesn't make a silly foul right on the edge of the box. Unavoidable? Perhaps, but I had a terrible feeling in my gut that Pirlo would seize on that opportunity.

More on the luck tip, how Gerrard doesn't score on that 1-on-1 with Dida, I'll never fully understand. Never. It's as simple as Milan capitalizing on their gift and us not (repeatedly).

As poor as the officiating was (and it was shamefully poor for all 92:40), Zenden was worse. He had a miserable performance, I'm sad to say. I don't understand waiting so long to bring Crouch on either. If there was one weakness this Milan defense had, it was that they could not contest his height. Note that it was only after he was brought on, when he demanded marking on the corner, that we scored our goal. And bringing off Mascherano for Crouch rather than Xabi proved to be costly, too. Why? Here's a simple equation: Lack of Mascherano = Space for Kaka = 2-0.

All said, Milan appear worthy champions, even while Inzaghi does his best impression of a 9-year-old girl who skinned her knee. They must be congratulated and we, the Liverpool faithful, must live up to our status as the best fans in the world and be gracious in defeat. There's a great deal of injustice in the world of football. Unfortunately, it isn't going to change the result.

I'm so cross, right now. But we will all walk on with hope in our hearts.
