Money, money, money

It was a good weekend for the betting man (me). I'd like to thank the following:
Rocky Juarez
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The Utah Jazz
West Bromwich Albion
Sheffield Wednesday
The Detroit Tigers
The Milwaukee Brewers
and
The Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls for scoring a combined total of less than 182 points.

Thank you, all.

Two-finger raspberries, however, for Reading FC. How do you lose 2-0 at home to Watford?!? Don't you suburbanites realize you're ruining my three-team parlay? You don't deserve a European place with results like that.

Betting aside, I'd like to recognize the New York Rangers for a moment. It was supposed to be a short series for them against heavily-favored Buffalo, but the Blue Shirts really turned in an inspired effort, valiant in 6-game defeat. Today's game 6 was one of the best hockey games I've seen in a long, long time. So kudos to NYR for rising to the Sabres' level and giving us the best series of this year's Stanley Cup playoffs (yes, even better than the Vancouver/Dallas first rounder that went the distance).

Back to my winnings. I haven't quite decided what to do with this sudden cash influx, but I'm thinking that a charitable donation to the Los Angeles Lakers might be in order. See, I'd like for them to do Kobe a favor and, you know, make a run at a big name who can help take this team back to glory, rather than continuing to waste Black Mamba's prime. Call me crazy, but that's how I see it. Let me just make this phone call to Mitch Kupchek...
