Sexist Japanese Rookie Card

All of those words and more! Behold:

I'm saying it: The Boston Red Sox are stupid. Or at the very least, fiscally irresponsible. Look, the only "winner" of the Matsuzaka sweepstakes is Matsuzaka. And of course, Scott Boras, who has baited the Red Sox into coughing up over $50 million just for the right to negotiate with the Japanese hurler. That's a huge chunk of cash on top of what his actual negotiated contract will be. Insanity! And for what? The next Hideo Nomo? A pitcher (NOT an everyday player) who'll befuddle batters during the first half of the season, but fade after the All-Star break when everyone's figured out how to hit him? I love the "Sum of the Parts" chart which perfectly highlights how a dumb a move this is on the part of the BoSox. Prepare to get even more bitter, Boston.

Close on the heels of our new favorite personality out of Detroit, Joe Cullen, for best NFL-related story of the year is this gem from Leon Washington of the Jets. Though, it isn't nearly salacious enough to top Cullen. Takes me back to when I collected baseball cards. I think my favorite error card was the '89 Fleer of Cal Ripken Jr. giving the finger. Or was it Billy Ripken? Yeah, it think it was Billy. Makes more sense. He must've had a huge chip on his shoulder with his brother stealing all the glory.

Did you hear the one about the sexist manager at Luton Town? Well, you'd be the slightest bit naive to think that spouting off like that, in this day and age, would cost Mike Newell his job.
